Lingerouche - A touch of Class

‘Lingerouche - A Touch of Class’ is the tagline that represents London’s up and coming fashion designer. Ms Angela Parkinson, proprietor and model, is East London’s entrepreneur who hosts shows to display her design as well as others. Her shows have been described as theatrical, exciting and somewhat shocking! And she doesn’t disappoint.
The venue for her latest show ‘Unique la Chique Fashion Event’ was held at Stratford Circus in the heart of East London. Gritty East London historically has given rise to Britain’s newest, brightest stars with cutting edge ideas and raw talent - Angela’s Lingerouche is the latest to follow this trend. This setting - highly accessible with ample parking, is aptly suited for this avant-garde designer. The room, spacious with mirrors on one side was framed with cameramen at the bottom of the stage snapping as the models approached and of course, struck a pose. The runway was banked by chairs dressed in what’s becoming Lingerouche’s fashion trademark - white veils clasped with a pink bow. Limbering up the crowd’s party mood as well as their purse strings and wallets were the cool glasses of wine passed out by young waitresses - a welcome added treat in the heat of this July afternoon, for not only was the temperature rising outside, but as the show progressed, things heated up inside too!
Angela Parkinson was born and grew up in East London. As a young woman she entered the competitive world of fashion modelling, now as a mature and savvy businesswoman in her forties, one would assume that she has hung up her stilettos for good! But, instead, as well as designing, she is training her models how to walk; how to pose for the camera and how to navigate the narrow runway in shockingly high heels! Not only that, she is taking the runway herself as the piece-de-resistance!
The show started slowly, showcasing different designers; dresses, t-shirts and suits, all compared by Nichola Brodie-Barratt.
This experienced confident woman, not only handled the crowd well, warming them up when needed, but donned the catwalk in designs for the larger lady. One of the up and coming designers - Pamela Muchenje an African designer whose shop, Agnes Baldwin, based in London, ( and found on instagram: agnesbaldwinlondon) had some beautiful designer dresses that attracted the attention of buyers.
And this is Angela’s strength. She is becoming known as the fashion designer that designs for the everyday woman as well as showcasing others’ talents. This ability to cater for all is reflected in the eclectic mix of her models - Angela has no height restrictions; they are not held back by race and culture but come together under the banner of Lingerouche. And she doesn’t discriminate on size either - her models are the more traditional fashion sizes of 6 and 8, but also sizes 10, 12, 14 as well as the larger lady. All can be found strutting Angela’s designs - she caters for all. All of these young women, strode onto the runway with an air of grace and confidence - and let’s not forget - balance in those extraordinarily high heels!
The crowd was entertained by performances from the lyrical and sugary-sweet voice of Ng-ja and rapper Lezareno Renee which added to the urban feel of this avant-garde designer. The show became more intense as it moved through to its second phase - the crowd hyped up by the performances, watched eagerly as more clothes were showcased, and as the designers changed - so did the amount of clothes worn! It has to be said, Angela’s designs are skimpy, sexy and revealing - not for the faint hearted! And as the show moved forward, the models wore less and less… stripping down to the bare essentials - in preparation for the designer of the night, the main event - Angela’s sexy line of lingerie.
Models ( brave girls that they are!) entered the runway with little more than g-strings, sheer transparent babydoll tops and garters!
As a member of the audience, I couldn’t fail to notice the amount of camera phones that came out from the eager, goggle-eyes gentlemen observers! Nor did I fail to notice the complete look of shock on the face of others. Yes. It has to be said, Angela’s designs will shock. But that is part all of their lure. Angela - an extrovert by nature, does not shy away from the beauty of our bodies - instead she capitalises upon it; her designs complementing the swerves and curves of the female form. She courts controversy much like the nudist painters of old.
And finally, at the end of what can only be described as a display, what all were waiting for, when Angela herself, peacock-like, entered the runway in a black, S and M leather outfit complete with whip! This skin tight dress, held together by what looked like oversized safety pins, fitted up to her waist but flowed out behind her like a cape of midnight black laced with poison. This femme fatale dominated the runway, her black feather boa fluttering around her shoulders like a murder of crows - aptly named for this enticingly deadly woman. Her long legs stalking the narrow strip in her trademark high heels, cracking her whip as she went!
The audience was entertained, entranced and enthralled, by this dramatic and theatrical display - what a show!
Ms Angela Parkinson is a designer that is demanding to be noticed. Her bold, daring designs speak to all the women in the audience, daring you to buy them - and of course daring you to wear them! All you have to do is answer the burning question:
Are you brave enough?
